Barcia / Tedesco / Metcalfe / Davalos / Nuclear Cowboyz Tickets on DMXS Radio Tonight!

Another round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series is in the books and Atlanta did not disappoint the massive Georgia Dome crowd.  Geico Powersports Honda’s Justin Barcia is a carpetbagger from up north that has settled at MTF in Cairo, Georgia for the last several years and now calls the Peach State home.  He may have finished 18th in one of the best Lites races in recent memory, but earned 60,000+ new fans with an inspired ride that electrified the crowd right from the drop of the gate.  We will hear his take on the race and whether or not Pourcel knows his name now.

In a bizarre twist to the start off the day,  Star Racing’s Martin Davalos was disqualified after an on-track altercation with Barcia, a fellow MTF resident.  We were there several years back for Martin’s first podium in Atlanta and just wanted to give him a chance to tell what happened in his own words.  We know he is a great kid and wanted to put this story to rest so that he can get back on the track with a clean slate in Daytona.

Valli Motorsport’s Ivan Tedesco had a great night in Hot-Sauce-lanta just finishing off the podium in an eventful main event that also had the crowd on their feet.  Ivan’s ride came together late in the silly-season, but is settling in with his new team just fine.  We always enjoy having Ivan on and will get his take as the series heads to Daytona where momentum is often gained or lost for the second half of the season.

It’s so good to see Geico Powersports Honda’s Brett Metcalfe back on the box.  He had to sit out last year’s SX season with an injury, but put in an impressive outdoor season where he finished 3rd overall.  Metty is a quiet rider, but one of the hardest working and always seems to rebound from adversity.  I’m sure he is looking for the Atlanta podium to be one of many this year.

The all-new Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle Motocross tour is coming to Birmingham, Alabama on March 5-6th at the BJCC Arena.  The tour has assembled the world’s greatest cast of FMX riders including legends like Nate Adams, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg,  and Ronnie Faisst to take this ground breaking two-hour scripted performance to the next level.  We will be giving away some free tickets tonight for the Birmingham show that will include an exclusive meet-and-greet with the riders after the performance.  Tune in for your chance to win some free tickets by emailing us at dmxsradio@gmail.com when prompted to during the show.  Check out www.nuclearcowboyz.com for more information and their schedule on when they might be coming to a town near you.

Wilson /3-Time Olympian Kemper / Decotis / Beams / Mountain Motorsports on DMXS Radio Tonight!

It’s time for the Atlanta round of the Monster Energy AMA Championship and we look forward to welcoming all of our family and friends into town for the winter pilgrimage and weekend of fun and racing.  We will once again be hosting the DMXS Supercross Pre-Party on Friday night at Door 44 in downtown Atlanta, and the 7th Annual DMXS Ride4AT charity event on Sunday at Bremen Race Park in nearby Bremen, Georgia.  Please check out www.Ride4AT.com and www.dmxsradio.com for more information.

Pro Circuit’s Dean Wilson made his SX debut at Indy last weekend and had a solid ride, but will look to improve on those results now that the first round jitters are out of the way.  Deano was one of the only kids to secure a pro ride out of the amateurs last year and you know Mitch Payton has an eye for talent.  Look for him to dicing up front soon enough.

Who in the hell James Decotis?  You could almost hear that question being asked in a collective gasp as the Peabody, Mass rider was battling the top riders in the first heat of the East coast opener.  Speed’s Jeff Emig gave us a little glimpse into his background, but we thought we should just ask James about his path to the gate at Indy.

Three-time Olympian Hunter Kemper is the only American male athlete to be ranked No. 1 in the world by the International Triathlon Union and in the World Cup rankings.  Hunter is currently training for the next Olympic Games, but will take a few minutes for an interview with us tonight.  Hunter is an advocate for the A-T Children’s Project which is the organization we hold our charity ride for every year.  This is the first person on DMXS that has been featured on a Wheaties box, so we will try to not to mess this one up!  You can find out more at www.HunterKemper.com and www.atcp.org

We first met Robb Beams from www.MotoEndurance.net at Loretta Lynn’s several years ago as a young trainer working with the Toyota amateur rider program.  His hard work and reputation have helped him ascend up the ladder in our sport and he is now training Ashley Fiolek, Adam Cianciarulo, and Ian Trettle.  His top-notch riding facility is located in Florida and will be a featured guest at the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship and the Ricky Carmichael University.  Moto E is graciously offering five-$100 scholarships for the amateur supercross race in any class on tonight’s show.  The first five emails we receive at dmxsradio@gmail.com after we drop the gate on the contest will have a class entry covered for the race.  If you already paid, they will directly reimburse you.  So tune into the show tonight for your chance to win.

Mountain Motorsports in Conyers, Georgia will be hosting the rider autographs for Factory Kawasaki and Factory Yamaha and will also include Pro Circuit and Star Racing from 5:30 -8:00PM this Friday night.  Ryan Hardwick is the owner, and a huge supporter of our charity ride, and will be on the show tonight with any and all details for the night.  DMXS will be there helping, kissing babies, starting food fights, and just being our normal hooligan selves.  This is the time and place to get your swag signed because you know how packed those Atlanta pits can get.  Check out www.mtn-motorsportsga.com for directions and such.

Short / Barcia / Hahn / Weege on DMXS Radio Tonight!

This early SX season has been a rollercoaster ride for fans as they balance the injuries with the riders stepping up to fill the vacuum and the great racing that has followed.  One of the tougher ones to take was Factory Honda’s Andrew Short having to sit on the sidelines for the foreseeable future after a flipper injury ended his title hopes as he was finding his speed and racing up front once again.  Even through his obvious disappointment, Shorty is always a class act and will give us the latest on his injury and how he sees this season playing out.  You can check out his uber-cool website for video updates and much more at www.AndrewShort.com

One of the coolest parts of our jobs in covering this sport is watching a rider ascend through the amateur ranks and become one of the next stars of  motocross.  We’ve been privileged to know Geico Powersports Honda’s Justin Barcia and his family from nearly the beginning of his young career.  Justin has honed his skills at the Millsaps Training Facility in south Georgia under the watchful eye of Colleen Millsaps for several years and wisely made his pro debut contending the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship last summer instead of taking the normal rookie SX route.  That much needed seat time at that level has helped mature the prodigy as he prepares to take his defining aggressive riding style indoors as the SX series moves east this weekend.

TLD Lucas Oil Honda’s Wil Hahn came in the season a bit under the radar, but David Pingree knew exactly what he was doing by signing young Wilbur.  His consistent podiums and speed have reminded anyone that wrote him off last year that his is back in a huge way.  We’ll catch up with him after another great ride at Anaheim last weekend and see what his plans are for the 18-month break before Seattle.

Jason Weigandt will somehow miraculously have a few spare moments for us tonight.  Between his SX, AX, and XXX careers it was hard for him to work us in, but we are always grateful.

The Atlanta SX is quickly approaching and that means it’s time for the DMXS Ride4AT charity event at the Bremen Race Park the following day.  This will be our 6th year and we hope to reach our goal of $250,000 raised for this worthy cause.  Please enjoy the supercross at the Georgia Dome and make plans to join us for a great day of riding,  autographs, and gear auctions to raise money for the A-T Children’s Project.  Go to www.Ride4AT.com for more information on the event.
