#28 – Carmichael – Barcia – Wilson

Download Episode!
The Monster Energy Cup will throw down this Saturday for the seventh consecutive year at Sam Boyd Stadium in Vegas, and Ricky Carmichael will be right in the middle taking in all of the action. We always love having the GOAT on and look forward to his perspective on the MEC and all the other top headlines in our sport.

Justin Barcia has put all the chips on himself after stepping away from JGR in the off-season and hopes to find his mojo again going into Vegas this weekend on a full privateer Honda effort. The past MEC winner has suffered countless injuries and setbacks over the last three years and is taking this opportunity to hit the reset button on everything. He’s been an easy target for the keyboard warriors and critics, but we wholeheartedly believe that 2018 will be his redemption.

Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna’s Dean Wilson is fresh off a Great Britain team podium at the Motocross des Nations. His storybook year just keeps getting better and we’ll get his thoughts on all of it and more as he’s busy preparing for the always challenging MEC track this weekend.

Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin is valiantly soldering on this summer and just knocked out back-to-back overall wins after injuring his knee earlier in the season. We’ll get his thoughts on the season and having to pass on the MXdN to get that knee fixed and more.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit’s Joey Savatgy went into the break with consecutive overall wins and carries that impressive momentum into Unadilla this weekend. It’s great to see Joey back on the podium and it’s also about damn time we got him back on the show.

Autotrader/Monster Energy/JGR Suzuki’s Justin Barcia has been part of our family since he was on mini bikes ripping around the country at amateur races. We always enjoy catching up with Bam Bam and look forward to hearing from him tonight.

Racer X’s Jason Weigandt survived Loretta Lynn’s again and lived to tell the stories tonight. The ranch stuff always delivers.

Carmichael – Barcia – Coombs on DMXS Radio’s 15th Anniversary

In 2001, Ricky Carmichael began his reign of domination in the 250 class, Ernesto Fonseca and Travis Pastrana were your 125 supercross regional champions and Mike Brown won one of the most competitive 125 outdoor championships we’ve ever seen. It was also the year that DMXS Radio first hit the airwaves to about five listeners on a painfully slow dial-up internet modem. We’ve probably quadrupled our listener base and had an absolute blast covering this amazing sport over the last 15 years.

There have been many riders that we’ve been fortunate enough to cover throughout their careers, but Ricky Carmichael’s support to our fledgling little show from the start has been the most impactful by far. We look forward to a little walk down memory lane with the GOAT.

Racer X’s Davey Coombs has been a friend, mentor and hero of ours in this sport from the beginning. We are beyond fortunate that he saw a little something in this show and made sure we had the support throughout the years to keep this traveling circus going.

Our time spent in the trenches of amateur racing and forming those bonds and relationships with riders and their families before the spotlight gets too bright has been the most rewarding part of doing this show. We’ve been torturing and having fun with Autotrader/Monster Energy/Suzuki’s Justin Barcia since he was on a mini bike and wanted to get one of our favorites on to help celebrate this milestone.

DMXS Radio thanks Troy Lee Designs, Moto Dynasty, SCOTT, Shades of Gray, Racer X, MX Sports, DUBYA Wheels, GoPro, OGIO, Concept2 Rowers, Coach Robb Beams, vurbmoto, Skull Candy, and Stellar MX Graphics for their continued support.
